Photographs and photography locations by Barry Levin

For each painting I paint I take thousands of reference photos.

My only consideration is making future paintings. I leave out what I don’t want, and add more than what is in the photo. I use multiple photos for my paintings and generally use my own photos to work with. Each painting will be better than the photographs.

Every photo here may or may not be a future painting subject, but every photo on this site is available as a subject for a commissioned painting. Contact me for details.

I will post articles and new pictures on a regular basis.

This is not an article about alligators. I photograph wildlife and animals as reference material for my paintings.

This season I will be traveling to about a dozen destinations, from Florida to Canada. I will photograph nesting colonies of wading birds in Florida and Gannets in Canada.

Maine Wildlife Park, in Gray Maine, is our first stop. It is a small zoo featuring only native animals.
